In the early 2000s, a story of mentorship, innovation, and entrepreneurship began to unfold across Michigan. Rob, a seasoned software engineer with an impressive track record, had spent years in Detroit honing his skills as a contractor for industry giants like General Motors, Microsoft, and AT&T.
In 2002, Rob’s journey took an unexpected turn when he joined Jackson, a major asset management company based in Lansing. Starting as a Senior Programmer, Rob’s talent and dedication quickly propelled him up the ranks. During his tenure at Jackson, he worked on crucial projects including software that scanned and parsed all incoming mail and custom investment portfolio software.
After a few years as a Director at Jackson, Rob made another bold move, relocating to Houghton in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula. It was in this remote yet vibrant tech community that Rob’s path would intersect with Jake’s, setting the stage for a powerful collaboration.
In 2013, Jake, a bright-eyed freshman, defied expectations by securing an internship at Jackson’s Upper Peninsula office – a position typically reserved for upperclassmen. Under Rob’s mentorship, Jake quickly rose through the ranks, becoming a team lead and spearheading a group of interns that consistently outperformed seasoned outside contractors.
From 2013 to 2017, Rob and Jake worked together in Houghton, building a strong professional relationship and laying the groundwork for their future endeavors. As their time at Jackson came to a close, Jake took a leap of faith and started his own contracting company, focusing on logistics and financial technology.
Eighteen months later, seeing the potential in Jake’s venture, Rob made a decision that would change both their lives. He joined the fledgling company as president, bringing with him years of industry knowledge and connections.
The early years were a whirlwind of innovation and exploration. The duo dove headfirst into the emerging world of blockchain technology, taking on challenging projects that pushed the boundaries of what was possible. As they found their footing, they diversified their portfolio, tackling everything from mobile development for military applications to cutting-edge automotive technology prototypes and even drone firmware.
With each project, their reputation grew, and so did their team. Talented individuals from various backgrounds were drawn to the company’s innovative spirit and the mentorship offered by both Rob and Jake. As the team expanded, so did their capabilities, allowing them to take on more complex and impactful projects.
